Hey all,

My dad's having a few problems with his Windows 7 PC. All was working fine until the other day, just out of the blue his video files wouldn't play and then his audios as well. He's tried a system restore to no avail. Here's a few more details:

PC has an emu sound card in that all sounds go through - no sounds coming through at the moment

tried to play mps in windows media player says 'Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.'

have a haupagge TV card in playing through winTV software-plays for a couple of seconds (without sound) then freezes

have skyplayer @silverlight' , buffers, finds channel, then picture freezes

sopcast plays for a couple of seconds then freezes

some mp4 video clips play in media player(without sound) but avi's won't

If posted this in the video section as well so excuse the repost, not sure which to put it under! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
