Somewhere in the process you mistepped.
Did you use this process?
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-transfer-new-computer.html

If you post in that tutorial thread, I'm sure you'll get help.
Not sure if that's the right way on the forum though, so wait until one of the "senior" guys responds and says that's ok.
For now, tell me what you did. I use Ghost 15, and transferred a sysprepped image to a different computer with only minor issues.

First off, if your computer restarted after the sysprep, you may have screwed up the drivers.
There's an option in OOBE when you do the sysprep to shut the PC down.
That, should happen, then you take an image of the sysprepped system partition using the Ghost recovery disk.
I hope you have another original image to restore. You should have done that image first of all. I don't understand why the "normal" image is failing unless it's a bad image. It's best to take 2 images just in case that happens.
In the meantime, you can try this for the PC stopping during config.
1. start in safe mode.
2. when it stops, reboot into normal mode and see if if it will continue to configure successfully.

That's the only problem I encountered, and I found that solution on this forum.
It's really silly, but it worked for me.
Good luck!

I hope you took a a good image of both PC's.
Restore a good image, then try the sysprep again, carefully following the instructions in the tutorial. Note where it says to shut down the Media Network service first. That gave me an error running sysprep until I shut it down.
The PC should shut down automatically. Check that box in the OOBE screen when you get there.
After the PC shuts down, take an image using the Ghost recovery disc. Don't let Windows get to it's load screen, just boot into the recovery disc to take an image of the system partition.
That image should work in another PC, but I can't guarantee it.
I've only done used it on one different PC. It seems most people get good results.
From what you've said, the syspreps you've done weren't done right.
Do you agree?

nanobahr, did you try the safe mode/normal mode steps I mentioned in post #4?
That's what got me past being stuck at "could not finish configuring," and also worked for other forum readers.
Otherwise, I'm out of ideas, and can only wish you luck.

Victor S i did what u said as shown in my last post , after being generalized with sysprep i start my pc in safemod but it give me the same error so when i press the message my pc restarts and i try the normal mod but the same message comes .
i think may be the antivirus software causing this so i'll uninstall it then do sysprep again and i'll inform you here ..

Sounds like a plan. Just to be clear, after the sysprep I started in normal mode,
then safe mode, then normal. No idea if that sequence makes a difference, but that's what worked for me.
If you're getting an error-free sysprep that then shuts down the PC, you've won that battle. Good luck with the anti-virus uninstall, and good idea.
I really hope you're successful, so people can have some comfort that sysprep actually works in all cases. It's supposed to.

now done ... in my case i was receiving error during the sysprep setting up my computer i searched for the logfile and boom i found that avast has some corrupted registry keys and that was easy to remove from my system but i also found a service named sptd was causing the same problem i realized it's a kind of service that been added to my system by 3rdparty application ( deamon tool , alcohol 120 ) or any other virtual cd software might install this driver with its own service so it took a while to get red of it . after removing both the antivirus and the sptd i used sysprep to generalizes my system and this time when my computer started up no error and worked great .
thanks for your time .
