Problem with Control Panel

I can access Control Panel but when I click any of the items nothing is happening now.

Has anyone else experienced this and how did they resolve it?

Hello barracuda and welcome to Seven Forums.

If the problem just started you may be able to use System Restore to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to the problem.

As to why you're having this issue it might be because certain system files became damaged or corrupt. Malware could damage system files. Run a full scan with your anti-virus suite. It wouldn't hurt to run a second scan with the free Malwarebytes.

So could a glitch when installing Windows Updates. It was just a couple of days ago that Microsoft released its latest updates. Did the control panel issue start right after installing the updates? If yes, you could uninstall all of the updates and then just install a few at a time. Reboot the computer after each group to make sure things are working correctly. Then install the next group. If problems occur, you'll know which group is at fault. Uninstall that group and reinstall just one at a time and reboot after each one. They'll either all install correctly or you'll know exactly which update is the problem. Save it for last and resume installing the remaining updates.

If you find out it's not related to Windows Updates you could run a system files checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

You can try doing a sfc /scannow command, which is a system file checker.

If that doesn't work, and you do a full scan with your AV, you'll most likely need a system restore point or repair install. If that doesn't, you'll need a clean reinstall.
