problem with desktop shimmering

Dear forum friends
Sometimes I find the desktop is shimmering on win 7 pro on my laptop. However if I open an application eg google chome and maximize, the display is 100 percent steady with no problem. It is only with the windows desktop I ever get this issue. Please can anyone advise.

Hi, have you installed the latest Video driver.
Can you plug in a monitor to check if it replicates then.
You should also be using a virus scanner by the way.
Try Microsoft essentials.
