Problem with keyboard and typing

My laptop is a HP G5056EA and I recently installed windows 7 on it. Its running perfectly except that when im typing the little flashing line will skip back a few words at random. Ive never had this problem before installing windows 7 so Im assuming its a problem with that..

Its not my finger touching the pad which was my intial thought

any thoughts?

Regarding your touch pad, did you actually disable it to confirm it's not interfering? There's usually a key combination for toggling the pad off/on. Check your keyboard for sticking keys. You could also plug in an external keyboard to see if it makes a difference.
