Problem with Microphone

Ever since i upgraded to windows 7 professional, my microphone hasn't been detected. i'm running an ibuypower cz-9 ultra II laptop. i have attempted to install the drivers from the site and update windows and let it fond the proper drivers but so far everything has turned up no result, any suggestions?

Try Checking Your Device Manager because you might have a device conflict and also check to see if your mic is muted under sound settings

Is your laptop designed for windows 7 or windows xp/vista?
If it is not designed for windows 7 then try the drivers compatible with xp or vista in compatibility mode.
