Problem With Restore of a Dynamic Disk

I made a system for my wife several years ago moving the users folder to a hard drive E:

I now realize, quite foolishly, I wanted to make a RAID 1 windows 7 mirror and added a second HD

The mirror initially worked but then I got a failed redundancy. There was nothing wrong with the physical drive.

I backed up the data drive using the free version of Macrium Reflect.

I broke the mirror and now I am unable to logon getting the profile service problem. Somehow, the profile must be corrupted. I can boot to Windows but cannot log on.

I opened regedit and looked at the logon list.....none of the folders has my wife's first name on it which is what the profile should have.

I now understand that Macrium does not backup the Dynamic state of the disk. I have tried restoring the data to either a basic disk or a dynamic disk created using diskpart but nothing seems to be working. I am wondering if I should try a fresh install of Windows 10

Any help would really be appreciated. I have no idea what to do at this point.

hello-

Although you might get help here, you have Win 10 and could possibly get more relevant help by posting here-

I have tried reinstalling the OS. I have tried everything I can think of. I should never have experimented with a dynamic disk in a RAID.

Dynamic disks are a real problem and I have researched everywhere and cannot figure out what to do.

I am able to see the data in the Win PE environment.

Also, having moved the users folder to a different drive poses a problem now.

I get a logon error. I cannot fix that either.

Everything is messed up. I am going to have to find an IT professional at this point because it is beyond my ability.

There is a difference between software dynamic disks and hardware RAID, I am not sure what you had.

Having moved the user profile to a different drive, could it be that the OS is now not seeing the user profile, because the drive letter has changed on the disk?

If this is the case, then you should be able to run a System Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) Installation DVD (or Repair Disk), and that should repair the system files.
