problem with sleep mode

So I see W7 has a feature called "Hybrid Sleep" where it supposedly will "allow me to return to work almost instantly" however, unless instantly is about 30 seconds, my W7 seems to be ignoring Hybrid Sleep and going into real Sleep.

With WinXP I had it set so that after 5 minutes my monitor would shut off and after 10 my user would log out. It looks as though this is no longer an option? At least I can't find it under power which is where I found it in WinXP. I would much rather like to return to my old setup where my computer never really turns off or sleeps at any point on its own. I just sort of want the screen to go black, and I want to be able to return to work almost instantly.

Hello AlphaWhelp,

Hybrid mode is to have the computer go to sleep first, then after the time you set will go into hibernation. That is why it is taking a bit longer since your computer is resuming from hibernation and not sleep.

For you what you want, you would need to set your Power Plan settings to "Sleep" and turn off "Hybrid" and "Hibernate" like in the recommended "Sleep" settings in the tutorial below. Afterwards, the computer should wake up from sleep and be ready to go in a second or two.

Hope this helps,

I turned off Hybrid and tested it immediately by using the power button to put the computer into sleep mode but it still takes a really long time for the computer to wake up.

I don't even really want the computer to go into any kind of low power mode or anything. I want it to just be on all the time, I just also want it to ask for a password if I haven't touched it for ten minutes.
