I got a problem with my audio system. I have got two sound devices for my PC and one of them is not working. I have got one Philips Subwoofer which works fine, it has got a audio input. Also I have got a Philips Tv-flatscreen used as main monitor which is connected with a HDMI-cable.

Ever since I replaced my proper monitor, which has no sound compared to a Tv, with the Philips Tv, and I have not been able to acquire any sound from my philips subwoofer. Probably it has something to do with the fact that my subwoofer only got an audio-input, and I have tried to plug it in my Pc, but I have not been able to make it function.

Can Anyone help me or give me some advice so that I can make my subwoofer function, because the sound quality from my Tv is worthless.

When you connect an HDMI cable, that switches the PC sound to the HDMI and not to the regular PC's sound card output. You can manuall change the default audio playback to the "Speakers" (you PC sound card) and if you have AMPLIFIED PC speakers you can hear the sound through them.

Just connecting a bass speaker to the PC will not work, unless it is a "powered" subwoofer (has its own built in power amplifier). However, you would then only get the bass and nothing else.

You have two options, buy a complete 2.1 (or 5.1) PC speaker system and connect that to the PC's sound device, manually set the default audio playback device to the "Speakers". Or buy a speaker system that will work with the TV for the sound.
