Problems checking HDD with SeaTools

Two parts to this question:

(1) I installed a new 1TB Seagate Baraccuda 7200.12
Installation seems fine.
SeaTools (ver 1.2.0.2 and ver 1.2.04) won't detect the internal drive but detects external usb drives ok. Can you suggest why?

(2) My two Seagate 500GB, 1TB externals record disk temps over 45°C & climbing after a couple of hours running idle with an ambient temp of 22°C.
This seems way too high - what do you think? I have a couple of days left to return the 1TB.

HOW TO POST A SNAPSHOT OF DISK MANAGEMENT DISPLAY

Run disk management:
WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER
WIN is the key with the wavy flag.

Maximize the output of Disk Management:
ALT Spacebar key combo | X key
Drag the field separators (such as between Status and Capacity) to show entire field.

Make a snapshot:
WIN | type SNIPPING | ENTER
Click the New button.
Drag the cursor around the area you want to snip.
File | Save as | select save location and name | Save button

Operating Temp: 0 - 60 Celsius

SeaTools should work. You could try their DOS solution:

+1 the Dos version should have no problems and a good thought to include the allowed temp range.

I have had way too many seagate drives die to keep buying their products. It is also my opinion that they are too hot, and too noisy.

For me:
The windows SeaTools recognises all the external usb drives and not the Seagate internal Sata.
The DOS bootable software recognises the internal Seagate only.

The Seagate expansion drive was 49C with an ambient temp of 22C.
This is relatively hot and with a higher ambient I expect the temperature to rise accordingly.

seatools for windows wont recodnise my internal drive either only my usb.

This and some related problems for me were caused by Windows seeing the sata drive as scsi when the BIOS is configured for ACHI mode PLUS an nForce Nvidia card was used. A few programs including SeaTools don't see the drive because of this.

2) Run in IDE mode
This gives me no speed penalty and hot swapping isn't an issue for me.
