Okay, so I am no computer amateur -- I have built multiple systems and am a proficient programmer. But I have run into a wall here. My computer is VERY not mediocre, if that makes sense. It has an AMD Athlon II x6 1055T (@2.8 GHz), 4GB of DDR3 1333, and an AMD Radeon HD 6870 card -- way powerful enough to play Bad Company 2 on its highest settings. I have tested this theory, perfect frame rate at all settings up. But my computer has a problem. At some random time after starting Bad Company 2 (usually about 5 minutes later) my entire system seizes up -- completely frozen, dead, lame, useless, etc. The sound stops, the frame freezes, it responds to no input -- it essentially turns into a picture viewer for the last frame of Bad Company 2. I have tried everything from moving the graphics card to a new PCI slot (x16 of course) to reinstalling DirectX. All to no avail. Just to help you guys possibly give me some help, I can inform you that it is not the fault of a faulty card, as the same thing occurred when I was using my GTS 250 (you can see why I upgraded...). So: it is not DirectX, it is not my RAM (maybe), it is not my motherboard, it is not my graphics card... I am out of ideas. I would GREATLY appreciate any help that you could give me.
Thanks so much,
