Solved Problems saving .doc and .txt files to my desktop

In Safe Mode with Networking I could create and save both types of files. I'm going to try the Clean Boot now.

Alright, after doing the clean boot, and following the instructions to isolate the problem item, it appears that it's Adobe Acrobat Update Service. The only Adobe programs I have installed are the following:

Adobe AIR
Adobe Digital Editions 3.0
Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX
Adobe Flash Player 14 Plugin
Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06) (NO IDEA WHY THIS IS INSTALLED. I USE NITRO PRO INSTEAD OF READER)
Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1

Any idea what I need to do to fix this at this point? I don't really use any of the Adobe products for anything. I realize that Adobe Flash is needed for online games and videos, and Shockwave is used for the same types of things. Can AIR be uninstalled without causing a problem? I'm going to remove Reader. What is Digital Editions?

Try disabling the update service. If the problem goes away you can always enable it, or try setting it to Manual if it is actually needed to perform an update when you manually get a newer version of Flash or whatnot.

Good work by the way. I know it takes time to use Clean Boot to diagnose problems.
