I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I experienced some problems with Delphi v4.
1) I can no longer create New Applications. When I select File - New Application, I get the following error message:
Unable to rename 'C:\Program Files (x86)\borland\delphi32\bin\delphi32.$$$' to 'delphi.dro'.
2) I can no longer use the Help facility. When I select Help - contents, I get the following error message:
The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows. However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format. For more information, go to the Microsoft Help and Support website.
When I go to that Microsoft website, I am told to download some utility and then cut and paste some code it displays to some other page and then do some other things. But it's all just a viscious circle. I can never seem to find the new version of WinHlp32.exe that I need to display Help under Windows 7.
I did find one document that said I could fix the problem by changing the persmission access for the folder: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\borland\delphi32'.
I tried to follow the instructions to do that. But I never could succeed in getting Delphi v4 to run without error messages.
If anyone knows the cause for these problems and, more importantly, how to solve them, I would sure appreciate some help.
