programs affecting when to turn off the display

my windows 7 ultimate 64bit will not turn off the display after allotted time if windows media player is running but it will turn off the display with windows media center running can i change these settings which programs will and will not allow the display to turn off is there any software ?

I'm not really understanding you
If you want to prevent the screen from shutting off on it's own.
Just go to control panel -> power options and change monitor to always on.
