Programs in startup list not starting up

I have a few things in my startup list. Here are the programs that should be starting up, and the entry type they are, according to CCleaner (easiest way to see startup list stuff):

HKCU:Run: Skype
HKCU:Run: Steam
HKLM:Run: vmware-tray.exe
Startup User: FAHControl (Folding@Home)
Startup User: Firefox
Startup User: HexChat (IRC program)
Startup User: VMware Workstation
Startup User: ZBar (software for adding taskbars to other monitors)

In addition, I have a custom fan profile for my video card, set with MSI Afterburner. The 'apply these setings on startup' option is set, but Afterburner does not appear in the startup list. However, it usually gets applied.

The keyword there is 'usually'. Some of my programs just don't start up. Afterburner's fan profile doesn't always get applied, and it seems to happen more and more frequently, which is a major issue for me, since running F@H will send my card rocketing over 85 degrees in mere minutes (yes, I know cards can take more, but still). Then there are times when ZBar, FAHControl (but the F@H service runs. Only the control UI doesn't load) and HexChat wont load, either.

So these four programs will sometimes fail to load. They won't all necessarily fail to load, though. Sometimes only one or two won't load, but there doesn't appear to be a pattern to this. There doesn't appear to be a pattern to which startups these programs will fail to load on, either.

I'm going to list all my running services below, as they are the only things I have touched in months, and this problem has been going on for about that length of time. However, I doubt anything here will help. No harm in posting, anyway:

Com+ Event System
Cryptographic Services
DCOM Server Process Launcher
Desktop Window Manager Session Manager
DHCP Client
DNS Client
Group Policy Client
Network Connections
Network List Service
Network Location Awareness
Network Store Interface Service
Plug and Play
Power
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
RPC Endpoint Mapper
Security Accounts Manager
Superfetch
System Event Notification Service
Task Scheduler
Telephony
Themes
User Profile Service
VMware Authorization Service
VMware USB Arbitration Service
Windows Audio
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver Framework
Windows Management Instrumentation

I don't think I'm missing anything in that list that is supposed to be running, right? So what else could be stopping these programs from running?

Also of note, it's not a drive issue, as some programs reside on different drives.

You could try removing the startup folder shortcuts and create entries in HKCU:Run instead. If the programs starting from HKCU usually load properly.

MS Autoruns will give you a better idea of whats down for startup than Ccleaner will.

Is there a way I can add them without editing the registry? I've never added programs to the startup through it before.

If you post the path to each of the .exe's you want to start I can make a .reg file that will add them for you.

No worries. Wasn't in a rush. I'll let you know if it solves the issue in a few days. Thanks.

Didn't work. I had to manually open two programs.
