So this time it is intentional.
Need as much people to write to Proton and urge them to not disable the application in Windows 7.
I do not even understand the logic. BECAUSE we are using Windows 7 we require the little extra security.
Has anyone found a workaround or an alternative for the meantime?
I was seriously about to buy a subscription too.

What happens when you try to run it anyway?
Did you see an official statment from them claiming it purposely not working on Win7?

If so, I would try an earlier version instead.

BECAUSE we are using Windows 7 we require the little extra security.

VPNs rarely provide any extra security, in fact, they can be privacy problems.

And it's normal that developers (of whatever software you can imagine) don't want to support older platforms over time. It's only a matter of time that it happens.

It logs you out and won't let you log back in. So no chance in loading up a server. Do you use it?

"Did you see an official statment from them claiming it purposely not working on Win7?"
Yes, in the email I used only to sign up for it. They sent an email on June 22 warning about it. However, because I only check the e-mail when I have a problem I didn't see it.
It came very shortly, about 2 weeks, after an outage they had so apparently after they fixed the outage they realized it only affected Win 7 users and so fixed it temporarily then angrily decided to disable it and come up with excuses about certificates. They even said if they allowed the old certificates that would risk the security of all users which sounds like bollocks to me.

"VPNs rarely provide any extra security, in fact, they can be privacy problems."

I disagree. We can be identified by our IP especially if it leads to our specific location and our ISP can see where we are browsing. After Trump killed Net neutrality and other protections that has become a personal security risk. For example, Youtube is already offering up local news stories because they have geolocated me. It does not feel safe at all after I became accustomed to it over the past 8 years.

don't want to support older platforms
Don't expect them to "support" it. I just expect them not to disable it, which they did. It also contradicts their mission statement.

This is Andy Yen, CEO of Proton, and Samuele Kaplun, CTO of Proton VPN. Our mission is to make privacy and internet freedom a reality for everyone.
