you want your monitor to turn on without pressing any buttons? If you leave it alone when you turn off your computer, it should also automatically turn off a few seconds later, and back on once you restart your computer. If that is not what you meant, do let us know.

first of all, quit calling me dear.
If your LCD monitor is not automatically turning back on when you start your computer (WITHOUT you turning the monitor off first), than it may just be the monitor and nothing windows can do. You would have to buy a different, newer monitor. I am only refering to a situation in which you have already turned your computer off. If this happens while your computer is ON, than windows can fix it by disabling screen saver and changing the option to turn off monitor after so long in the power options page from the control panel. Set that option to "never".

Windows 7 is suited to your pc, all versions. However, 1 GB RAM is pretty low, you may be able to upgrade that RAM (buy another stick or two) for cheap. look up google to see what you can find online.

If you have problems (windows 7 is slow), than you can do things to speed it up: My man Brink has this tutorial that will help you out a bit: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html
However, if one of these options gives you a warning that only advanced users should change a specific setting, then please skip that setting. Some settings, such as the registry, should almost never be changed.

You are not required to buy anything, they are only recommended to you as an option in order to get the very best out of your PC. Please completely read the tutorials, esspecially any text boxes marked in red, as they are warnings. Avoid changing critical settings. Let me know if you need any further help. Once again, I am not your dear ;)

Dear is usually reserved as affection for a wife, husband, or very close friend, unless adding in my name, such as:

Dear DustSailor,

because it is a single word with two different meanings

;)

by best do you mean best priced, or absolute best on the market? Now, honestly I'm not sure what they might have in your region, if everything is the same or not, or whether ordering things off the internet would be inexpensive for you and what stores in your area might carry.

Many blu ray players include software for viewing blu ray movies, and some are able to play both blu ray and dvd movies. Some play with a 10x speed and others with a 12x speed. Some can also burn blu ray onto empty disks, some can't. The blu ray players that can do more tend to cost a whole lot more money, and I am not entirely sure what kind of player you are looking for.

Here are a few options I found on google you might look up. Otherwise, you may just have to look up something yourself as I am not sure what you are wanting: blu ray - Google Search

Here are a few players I've found that may interest you:
WH10LS30 Blu-ray rewriter
Samsung's SH-B123L
You can compare prices on those pages, although I wouldn't know how much shipping would be or anything of that sort.

Well, windows media player bundled with windows 7 should work well for standard movies. For blu ray movies you will need a player that specifically claims to play blue ray, but most of these cost money, and I do not know any that are free. I've only had experience with cyberlink powerdvd: No. 1 Media & Blu-ray Player but it looks like it costs 100US$

You might search google for blu ray players, but honestly cyberlink is the cheapest I've found
