PSU- Constant buzzing noise

I have Silverstone Strider 850W PSU, and i noticed buzzing noise from it. That buzzing noise is constant, even i shutdown my computer.
Any help? Fix?

Power supplies are still "live" and are putting out some voltages even when the PC is powered off.

Several possibilities, the first being the power supply is loose in the mounting. The second something internal to the power supply loose, a transformer vibrating and finally the power supply "vibration" is causing something else in the PC case to buzz.

Do you hear the buzz noise from the computer case or maybe the speakers?

its a transformer. sometimes they just buzz. think american pilons in the movies. those huge trash can sized transformers buzz and can be heard from street level.

ive never had a psu from a pc that buzzs but have plenty of other transformers that do.

the classic buzz (without going uber electrian geek on you) is basically caused by the magnetic field or flux generated around the transformers "pack" which is hundreds of thin sheets of metal, these magnetic waves can cause the stack to move back and forth resulting in them touching, causing the hum/buzz.

chances are you have a loose stack, its something that can be solved at home, but I wont go into the details as if you're not an electric savvy it may result in you getting spikey and smokey hair.. ive had to many mains voltages shocks to remember (maybe theyve damaged my brain cells and thats why I cant lol)

My thought was that because when one uses external speakers they often don't turn off when the computer is turned off. Therefor will continue to buzz after the computer is turned off.
I have my speakers and everything else hooked to surge protectors which I turn off after the computers are shut down. No buzz.

ive always assumed speaker buzz was again caused by their internal transformer stepping it down to 1-2v.

I maybe wrong though. again a pc power supply can buzz when the pc is off bevause it is still receiving power from the mains and stepping it down to 12v, its just not outputting the power.

but yeah a simple fix like you do yourself would be to turn it all off at night.

while writing this I was trying to look around my office for things at work that buzz.. and now im fully aware the fluorescent light fitting above my head does and I cant stop listening/hearing it.. ta!!!

Its not a speaker cause i dont have speaker in case. Here is my specs, but even i disconnect everything from psu, i still hear buzzing sound.

yup thats a loose transformer stack.

you can hear it even with everything disconnected because it is still receiving a voltage current from the mains and stepping down the voltage to 12v. that isnt going anywhere but still doing its job none the less.

you could send it off for RMA and get a new one. thats if in the small small print that nobody reads it might state some low level noise emittance is normal and of no concern.

Cannot RMA.
So its not a big problem? Will psu spend more electricity? Any fix?

the only time id consider it a concern was if it got very hot during use, or stopped giving stable voltages resulting in crashing and restarting.

yeah there are fixes. such as packing out the spacers between the coil stacks with non magnetic material. bits of plastic would work, or silicone matting. but the gaps are only about 1mm

theyre normally wrapped in heat shrink, its the bright yellow or blue square thing or things youre looking for.. well theyre the most common colours used.

Please don't do that.

It's not something you can safely fix without some significant electronics training.

DO NOT open the power supply unless you have been trained in high voltage electronics training.
The voltages in a power supply even when unplugged can kill you.

The Silverstone Strider 850W is not knowen for quality voltage regulating. I would suggest using a Corsair or a Seasonic power supply.
