laptop windows 7 Professional 64 bit won't boot to windows anymore

Hello everyone. Hoping someone can tell me how I can fix this boot issue and get my windows 7 working again without deleting my programs, files, data etc (Basically without restoring my pc from scratch)

Everything was working fine until i started installing "sonos" wireless software for controlling audio, After that i restarted my laptop and started getting this black boot error message as shown below

Status: 0xc000000f

Things I have already tried but no luck

1) I tried pressing f8 and clicked on restore to last working settings option and that didnt work

2) Starting windows in safe mode but took me back to this same error message
3) placed my windows 7 installation disc and clicked on Repair Windows. I did the startup repair and when it completed what was weird now.. it got passed the boot error message and saw microsft text loading but then went to blue screen of death, then once restarted my computer again back to this "Windows Boot Manager" issue

It will only go to BSOD (blue screen of death if i choose start windows normally) when laptop starts booting up. I

What i noticed that looked a bit off is when i tried to do a repair windows using my windows 7 disc the partition said E: . Shouldn't it be on C Drive? cause i never saw an E Drive when using my computer. Windows was always installed on C Drive

I attached some photos so you can see what i mean and something about system volume is corrupt when i clicked on Diagnosis and repair details from the startup repair menu since Startup repair said it could not fix this problem automatically

I also did this command BCDEDIT at command prompt from my recovery options. and if you look where it says WIndows Boot Loader It also says partition E:Drive. Should i change that to C or no that's normal?

Can this be fixed without having to reinstall windows and lose all my data?

I don't think my harddrive went bad or not working cause on System recovery options i clicked on add drivers and i can browse all the folders on E drive which when logged in on windows should be C Drive but everything seems to be there photo below

Hi

The symptoms, error message Status: 0xc000000f , BSOD 0xF4 etc are pointing to a possibly failing HDD. If there is any important data on the system, please immediately stop any repairing attempt - you may make the issue worse.

What is the exact make and model of your laptop ?.

Thanks for the response. Im using Laplink DIsk Image now to make clone disk of my harddrive onto an external USB WD Drive. Using that to backup all my data, drive incase this harddrive does go bad and wont be able to use it

That is the right think to do in the first place. A hard drive by it's electro-mechanical nature can fail at any time. A regular backup will keep unnecessary data recovery expenses away.

Once you finished the cloning, please follow the below steps.

1. Download "Parted Magic" from Download Parted Magic - MajorGeeks

2.Burn the disc and boot from it. At the first boot option screen, chose the default option "Default Settings ( Run from RAM )".

PartedMagic_boot_2013.jpg

3. Wait until desktop appears. Then open "Disk Health" ( GsmartControl) and choose your HDD for testing.

PartedMagic_New.Wallpaper.jpg

main_ok.png

4. Navigate to the "Performs Test" tab and select "Short Self Test" and press "Execute" button.

info_testing.png

5. If the test is a pass, select "Extended Self Test" and execute it. This will take some time to complete. After the test finishes, go to "Self Test Log" tab and choose "Save As" button and save the report.

6. Navigate to the "Attributes" tab to list SMART log and choose "Save As" button to save the report as a text file.

7. Upload both "Self Test" log file and SMART log file with next reply. If you are using Ethernet based broadband, internet will work out of box on "Parted Magic". Open "Firefox" from desktop and log in to the "Sevenforum". Otherwise, just copy the files to a USB flash disk and then upload them using another PC.

Thanks but before i try that i noticed some weird things.. should i still do what you asked?

Couple of things i've tried
I even tried this software to automatic repair windows 7

EasyRe Professional For Windows 7
https://neosmart.net/EasyRE/

burned the iso and it booted up the cd, selected automatic repair and said completed but still now i just get the blue screen of death, no black screen

2) I tried the commands
bootrec /fixMBR
bootrec /fixBoot
bootrec /rebuildBCD

only fixMBR says completed. the other 2 says element not found

2mmyasm.jpg

10wp8y8.jpg

Before on windows 7 install disk on system recovery options it showed my operating system, but i guess after i did those commands fixmbr, now it no longer shows up

My assumption of HDD being bad is based on the symptoms you described. I could be wrong but when we repair computers, testing and verifying the health of hardware components is the first step to do. Yes, please proceed to the hard disk testing steps. If your HDD is fine, we can start looking for possible software issues.

Btw, "EasyRE" seems to did something wrong.

Hey anshad before i do the hard drive test you mentioned. I have a laptop it's a SSD (solid state drive). not a regular hard drive.

Is it fine and safe to still do what you recommended on testing?

SMART self test is a mandatory feature as per ATA specification. Yes, all solid state drives supports self tests but hardware failure issues are less likely to detect when compared to a mechanical HDD. What is the make and model of your SSD ?.

Sorry for the late reply.

"Crucial" drives are infamous for buggy firmware which may prevent the OS from booting when the SSD completes 5200 hours operation time. This is a well known bug and you will find more info from the below links.

AnandTech | Crucial to Fix M4 BSOD Issue in Two Weeks

Your issue might not be related to that but it is highly recommended to update firmware of all Crucial M4 drives. Please download "Manual Boot file for Windows and Mac" ( ISO image ) from official Crucial support page and burn the disc image to a blank CD ( Image to disc method ).

Crucial SSD Firmware Updates

Burn a CD or DVD from an ISO file

Boot from the disc and follow instructions on the accompanying PDF guide. Once the firmware is successfully updated, please post a reply and we can try to fix the damage done by "ËasyRE".

should i still try that hard drive check with parted magic?

One thing i notice when i did a clone drive via Laplink Disk image 5. I was just checking to make sure it was bootable but got this message when it was booting up

"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

I got the hard drive clone to finally work on clonezilla only. I downloaded latest version of clonezilla and it completed in 4 hours. I switched hard drive to test it out and yup the new hard drive also got the exact same blue screen of death image so the clone must of went through successfully. Don't think it could be a hard drive problem if its given the same error? Maybe a real bad boot /MBR or for some reason some system files went bad but dont know.

Any other suggesstions so i dont have to reinstall windows completely and have to reinstall all my programs and lose programs data like adobe premiere pro

Let the CHKDSK to complete. The screenshot you posted before showed a "Corrupted Volume" issue. May be Windows will just start fine after completing CHKDSK.
