Pulling the pin...

OK, so i have this little pin (jumper) in my HDD. from what the little pictorial says on the label, in its current placement, the pin limits the HDD to 3GB/s.
so I'm wondering....if i pull the pin, will it blow up?

Pretty much just want to see if my pc gets faster, or something in the effect
of better performance. But, I'm cautious when it comes to stuff like that, so i ask the people their advice. Plus, Google is full or morons, and random usless knowledge, that will utimatlly cofuse you (well me). Thats why I'm here, and asking you guys.

i believe that jumper will force the HDD speed from 1.50mbps (SATA 1), to 300mbps (SATA 2)


so, 300mbps is as fast as it will go......

hmm.....that doesn't quite make sense. maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
it doesn't say force, set, or increase. it says the opposite ...."limit".

maybe i should just leave it alone. curiousity killed the cat, after all.

you have a 7200 barracuda ....yes..??, its a SATAII interface, the maximum throughput speed is 300mbps... half that for your SATAI speed of 1.50mbps (thats what the jumper is for, if you have a NON SATAII compatible mobo)


all you need to know is you cant get it any faster while using that jumper..... your already @ top speed
