Considering Chris Titus Tool on multiple Win 10 Pro and single Win 11 Pro computers. Will use "suggested" settings.

Apparently this tool is unavailable for Win 7 Pro. What are the respected and reasonably safe alternatives? Goal is minimal bloat, increased speed, and reduced spyware, etc.

TYVM for constructive comments!

Someone going by the name blackviper wrote a guide on configuring windows services. He deleted the page on his site but you can still find it on wayback https://web.archive.org/web/2011112...dows-7-service-pack-1-service-configurations/ or there is also a pdf scan I just found. https://www.scribd.com/document/356...ndows-7-Service-Pack-1-Service-Configurations It takes the service and classifies them base upon risk. Please note though that I haven't actually tried it myself. Really 7 has nowhere near the bloat and spyware of 10 and especially 11.

TYVM! That looks like a good place to start. Any other suggestions? I'm not so knowledgeable or so OCD as to require every last bit of bloat to be removed; I follow the 80/20 Law of Diminishing Returns: 80% effect for 20% cost/effort. No expert on these things, so please treat me as a very intelligent 10-year-old.

FWIW, my Win 7 Pro computer still receives the occasional Security Update from MS when manually interrogated.

On the rare occasions when internet is accessed by Win 7 Pro computer, I will use a relatively "secure" browser, perhaps Brave or one of the Firefox alternatives, and use an excess of caution. Backups for sure.

As an aside, MS Update is not as all-inclusive as one might like. I have used specific updates from Intel and Dell sites which have both installed updates that MS omitted. Folks using AMD CPUs and various Graphics cards should contact the Update section of the individual component/computer Mfr for possible updates from them. Restore point made, just in case.
