Please help me understand this,

I have a videoediting software that I am runing on 32 bit win7 with 4 Gb RAM, the company that makes the software suggests to set the Virtual Memory/PageFile Size to double the RAM amount.

I looked and mine is set to auto, I have many drives and all say none and are grayed out under paging file size for each drive.

Which drive should I double the paging file ? the drive the software is installed on ? what about all my other drives, once I take it off auto they will not be managed. Should I set them all to double the RAM and if so how will it affect my system?

Thanks in advance I know I asked a lot of questions I hope all are answered....

Not to seem to not trust you but why would the company who makes the software suggest it. Shouldn't they know best?

Or are you saying whatever the software needs win 7 will do it auto?

Thanks

For one company to give you such advice about their one piece of software could directly cause some other programs to malfunction. Their advice is ridiculous. If you use a page file at all leave it as managed by Windows as has already been said :)

The advice is gear towards Windows XP which lacks the sophisticated handling of the pagefile that Windows 7 has. Windows 7 will and does manage the pagefile, and adjusts its parameters dynamically to suit the situation at that moment. If the software needs mote virtual memory, Windows 7 will adjust the page file to accommodate.
