Question about fans

Hi, im using a H80 with 2x noctua fans NF-P12 but after seeing a lot of videos on youtube and Reading a bit on various forums I seem to see that "Scythe Gentle Typhoon Fan 1850 rpm" comes up all the time as their preferred radiator fan, would that fan work better or the same alone instead of the 2 noctua fans, want to use it as pull I hope I am thinking correct there, it would be case->fan->h80 and it to exhaust the heat out of case, or should I got with 1 Corsair SP120?

And might as well ask this here also instead of making a new thread about it, but is there anyone that are or have used EnzoTech MOS-C10, do they help? the plan is to use them on my motherboard

My question is are you having a cooling issue with you H80? I will only use Noc fans but the Scythe's are a very good fan from what I understand. For me I run my Noc's at full 12v and they are dead quite in my rig. You can get fans that push more air but at a cost of db's.

Not really. idle at around 31-33c and 59-60 at full load with IBT, I was more into the thought of if 1 fan would do the same that 2 are doing that would decrease the db's, and it would loosen up a bit on the dust that get stuck behind the front fan right now.

Dust just happens and this is regular maintenance needing to be performed. I run a sealed 280mm rad. and I blow it out with air every 3 months. Save your money and just keep what you have clean with air and then every 6 months clean the blades of all case fans. It's a royal pain but it really makes a difference when done.

So pretty much just continue doing what I already am as thats what I do, but I Clean it out every 1-2 months, what I could do atleast to test the difference would be to remove 1 fan and see what happens.

But about those Enzotech thingies do you know of anyone that have used those, I tried to find Reviews or test about them but found nothing

I've run all my sealed systems with push pull and only now with space limits am I just running single pushers. I'll say this about push pull it will only account for maybe 1-2 degrees.

Then that's something I will try out for sure. Will give pull a try and see if I get similar outcome

Stick with you Noctua fans.
You other choice seem a bit silly to me. Any time your have to run a fan 1850 rpm to make it work properly it's a poor fan.

Ah, not really mate.

Higher RPM = Higher CFM typically at the cost of dB.

Some fans are simply better suited to certain tasks. A great CPU fan doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a great case/rad fan and vice versa.


The Scythes are popular because they push more air, while keeping the dB comparatively lower. Air flow isn't as sacrificed going through the rad etc


However you'd be hard pressed to notice much difference between the Scythe and Noctua. A few degrees at the very best.

As for the EnzoTech MOS-C10, they wouldn't hurt - but not what I'd consider necessary for a mobo really.

Ye that's what I read also after googling a bit that the CFM don't really matter if your planning on using the fan on a rad, what you want is a fan that have as high static pressure, and if I understood it right the Schytes have a higher static pressure then my current noctua fans I have.

Guess it would not hurt to give it a try and if they don't help much I know that for the future at least

An update, I removed one fan now and the single fan I have no exhaust air so it pulls air from the inside and through the h80 and so far it idles at 35-36 and full load with IBT 64, so im looking at at 2-3 increase at idle and 4-5 at load which is not that bad. Might even give the Scythe a try just to see if it actually help me from the higher rpm/sound, as of right now its more silent so I did notice a difference from removing that 1 fan. I also noticed my gpu runs 1 degree cooler when it idles but I guess that's because when I had the 1 fans I used them as intake and exhaust out in the case

I don't got any tool for db but as my room is pretty small it should be easy to hear if the Scythe is louder and if so how much, what I am interested in the most is the cooling if 1 scythe will give me better cooling then the 2 noctuas I had, will be fun to find out and will pick one up asap

Damn at the 5400 rpm fan, even the 1850 sounded like hell. So this will be really interested. A bit about the case and how far away it is, 800D Modded quite a bit ( haven't taken pictures yet ) but pretty much removed everything inside that I don't use and opened up for 4x140 (noctua) fans at the top and 2x140 (corsair af) in the front running those 6 at 7v the current noctua fan on my h80 at 12v and I find it being pretty silent and comfortable as it is about half a meter away or less from me.

But I will post a new update tomorrow after I have grabbed the Scythe 1850
