Question about SSD's

I saw these comments on a site about SSD's , is the below comments true ? I was hoping to use the SSD as my primary drive , i don't store much .

Just remember to only use SSD as your bootdrive. Get a large (1TB or higher) HDD for your storage drive. Move all your heavy files such as music, photo's, video's, program files, and all your downloads to the storage drive. Do not use your SSD for storage as it can slow down. Keeping your SSD as only a bootdrive means your machine will fire up in seconds every single time, unlike several minutes with HDD's.

I have just got my SSD.

Its upto you how you use it.

I have a 120gb SSD as my boot and a 1TB HHD as Storage.

The ideal would be to use an SSD for both the OS and storage. The problem being cost. An SSD large enough to serve as storage for most people will cost several times that of a similarly sized HD. An SSD will provide the greatest benefits when used for the OS. A good compromise is to use the SSD for the OS and use an HD for storage. This provides good performance at a reasonable cost.

There can be little doubt that some form of SSD will eventually completely replace conventional drives.

One my Primo I use a 250gb ssd for everything except backups.
My backup I use a 500 gb ssd.

Backup from ssd to ssd is amazingly fast. From a 3.0 sata internal ssd to a 3.0 sata hot swap ssd you will start doing backups just for joy.

That's how most people usually use their SSDs, but it's for space considerations. You can run your OS and programs from a much smaller SSD. It is usually your data programs that take up most of the space. I put the OS and programs on the SSD and my user files on a mechanical hard drive. You won't notice any speed difference in the user files, but will with the OS and programs. Almost anything you start, will start almost immediately.
