Hi gents,

I am using an old version of win 7 RFC....

after 6 months of not using my pc i hooked it up on the net 3 days ago ...

I found out that my RFC build is now being seen as "an illegal version of windows"

Now after yesterday, my soundcard suddenly is not detected anymore. Instead, it detects a Realtek digital output.... this is funny, because i have a soundblaster 24 bit installed.

Now i deleted all the sound drivers, and rebooted windows to reinstall the soundblaster drivers...

Win 7 finds soundblaster drivers, installs them... only to give a message that again, my win 7 version is illegal... after that i says that the drivers are not installed correctly...

Can anyone tell me, if having this old RFC version is linked to my soundcard problem ?

(ps i tried installing them manualy, dint worked either)

PSPS: if i order a product key... do i have to reinstall win7 anyways ??? (I CANT REINSTALL WINDOWS, TO MUCH SOFTWARE ONE IT THAT I CANT LOOSE :()

You cannot run the RFC any more. Apart from violating the EULA, you will get all kinds of problems. Buy a new Win7 and install that. I would not recommend to try to apply the key to the RFC.

No reinstalling windows is at least for now not an option... I am working on a website, and the deadline is soon... i need audio to work ! :) Is my audio error linked to my "illegal" windows version or not ? :D

If you have a qualifying copy of XP or Vista, since you are in the U.S. then buy an Upgrade version on Amazon, Buy.com, NewEgg.com or from the Sunday ads of an office supply store like Staples - to get the best price.

Any retail version besides OEM can be migrated to any computer of your choice for life.

You cannot just insert the key to reactivate your current install, but there is a workaround used by many to change from the RC to a retail version which works quite well: Upgrade the Windows 7 RC to any retail version « Icrontic Tech.URL
