Raid 0 - 4 TB setup - Windows 7 install

I can get all the hardware specs in a moment, I wanted to throw this question out and see if I get a quick solution.

Don't ask me why, I have a specific purpose to my setup. I just need help installing Windows 7 - 64 bit.

Just built a computer. I made two 2TB harddrives Raid 0 (don't ask). When I go into windows I get errors from "can't install windows here." Is there something simple I am overlooking?

Unless you have a new EFI based motherboard, I don't think you can boot from a drive greater than 2TB in size.

Hi abelltx and welcome to W7 Forums

W7 cannot install on a disk that is greater than 2TB in capacity, unless such disks are set up as EFI. A BIOS based system does not support EFI.

I guess what I am confused now is diskpart, I have never seen it before. How should I setup the partitions for 4TB?

Real fast. I don't care to have a 4TB partition, if I could just create a boot partition of 500 GBs and then have 3.5TB to work with on a RAID 0. I would be happy.

Okay, so I think I got everything figured out. But now when Windows install has a restart it just sits there blinking with a white cursor.

Drives (or RAID arrays) larger than 2GB have to be set up as GPT. A GPT drive (or array) can only boot Windows 7 if the PC uses EFI rather than a traditional BIOS.

Do you need to install RAID drivers during the Windows installation? (Not a rhetorical question.)
