It is not a big difference on benchmarks but will be useful with some applications.

You have it so make use of it.

A! Something extra,the ValueRam is CL5 5-5-5-15,though can go up to 4-4-4-14 V1.8 without problems.

The difference is little no none (nothing youll ever notice either way) so I would call them a tie in regards to speed.
But, it does look they will all play together well

I would run a Memtest on it, just to be 100% sure all is stable and well.


But from the looks of it, I would keep both kits. More RAM is always better.
And if both kits are stable & play well together, that would be the best way to go IMHO.

Looks good, sometimes you need to manually set the RAM frequency and the first four timings, leave the rest on auto.

Agree with Wishmaster, run memtest86+ just to be sure.

Dave, mine is running fine but need a few days to work on TRIM since I did a clean all, 3 formats and 2 botched Pargon Migrate attempts. I caused a lot of writes to the poor little thing.

Steve was very patient and understanding and has not only helped Mike and I but Panais too. Agreed on the tee shirt Mike.

Panais keep up the work on your RAM, you have found a spot where you may not get better from here and have made a good improvement.

Mike, your install was only about 25 pages of posts. Gary's was a lot easier than yours. I'm not really a pro, I've just done it a few times. Experience is the best teacher. So, after 25 pages of posts, you should be a pro at it. But, I will take the T-Shirt.

A! btw iv run the memtest for 1 pass without errors,i will let it overnight for testing purposes.

Well,you are all here so one more newbie question.

I want to benefit from my ram (if its possible) in high end gaming and HD 1080p movies.

Which is better for the above?

Decrease timings from 5-5-5-15 1.8V to 4-4-4-14 2.0V?
Or?
Loose timings 6-6-6-18 1.8V and increase MHz to 1000MHz?

Or nothing?

For gaming and video playback, you probably will not see any difference.
Gaming can benefit from RAM available, but little from RAM speed.


Id just leave it at it rated spec TBH.
