Solved Ram not recognised

Hi all,
just noticed in Control panel/System there is only 4gb of memory being recognised. I have 3 dinns x 2gb installed so pulled the case off, removed the dinns and swapped their slots. Still only showing 4gb in "System". Any ideas Peeps?

I installed and ran CPU-Z which shows triple channel - 6144 Mbytes on the memory tab

When you boot and go into the BIOS, how much memory is recognized there?

Hmmm, only 4gb in Bios

You are putting them all in the blue slots? (or all in the orange?)

Try putting only 1 dimm at a time in the A1 slot. See if it will boot fine for each dimm. Suggest running Memtest86, it will not only test, but show the actual memory seen (found this picture)

Thanks men, think I sorted it. Swapped the three of them around trying two at a time in the correct (orange) slots and only 2gb shows up with one of the dimms inserted. Points to faulty dimm I reckon.

If you confirmed it's not the memory slot, it sure looks that way. If you put just that one dimm in and it will not boot, that will also confirm. Bummer. A Guy

Yep, put them one at a time in the A1 slot and sure enough, one of them wouldn't boot. I'm cranky, but hey, at least it's not the mobo
