Solved Ram usage keeps going up

When I turn on or restart my PC after everything is loaded the task manager says I'm using 25% of my Ram. After two or three days my ram usage goes up to 50% while just sitting there.

It never really goes up past 50-55% but I want to know why it starts at 25% and then goes to 50%.

Start with a memory test to be sure it is not a memory problem
Download memtest86 and test RAM

Run for 8 passes
If it passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
If it fails do the same for 8 passes.

If the test proves that it is not due to a faulty memory, when you have high memory usage, access the task manager and see what is using the memory, Send us a Screen shot.

Check the task manager and see which processes take up the memory. Press CTRL and ALT and DEL simultaneously then select "Start Task Manager". That should open up what you need, select the "Processes" tab. Then see which applications are running.

You can post a screenshot of the task manager for us to see if you don't know which programs you don't need.

Windows 7 will use whatever RAM you can throw at it and you'll no doubt have a load of background processes going on.

There's not a lot of point in having loads of RAM if it's going to sit there not being used, and remember, the more RAM that's being used the less wear there is on your hard drive.

Providing performance is not adversely affected you've not a lot to worry about.

I think that Skulblaka and myself gave the best solution. I have Windows 7 and my RAM usage does not keep incrreasing just due to the passage of time.
Seavixen has a good point, if the usage is not due to a virus or malware, however. Run a full antivirus scan and download and scan with malwarebytes.

Viruses can cause high ram usage best thing to do is task manager and look for uncommon installed software

If you can't figure it out from there what the main bugger is use a certified AV and do a full scan might take a hour or so but hell you will find the culprit

I have a good virus scanner, Avira Antivir, which I use to scan my PC every week. It says I have no viruses.

I also got Malware Bytes, becuase someone mentioned it, and used it and it said I have no viruses.

Check msconfig/start up and see if their are programs starting that you don't need to start up a boot. I have 3 checked.
