Is the below build overkill? Could I do any better and should the ssds be RAID 10 or HDDs RAID 10? Also the drives in the RAID 10 has to run in SATA II which means a bottleneck.

There is really no use in RAID'ing drives these days.........especially SSD's. That may be overkill to some, but not to others. There are several different kinds of computers besides the kind you have listed here. Workstations, HTPC's, Gaming computers, Servers, etc....

Non-custom.........I have no clue, as I don't keep up with them. Probably Alienware would rank up there as it's preconfigured for the most part and not truly a "custom" PC.

Also, about SATA II being a bottleneck.....that's not accurate at all. SATA II will still allow up to 300MB/s Sequential Read/Write speeds, and the fastest HDD's on the planet are around 200MB/s, so you aren't bottlenecking anything to be honest.

That build in the first post would make a killer gaming/editing machine. You could game, record your gameplay, and edit it with video editing software all with one rig without breaking a sweat.

I agree with Kelly. There is little advantage to do Raid with an SSD other than great benchmarks. The 2 things that make an OS installed on an SSD faster are 4kb read speed and access time. Raid increases neither. Besides, any good SSD will have an access time of .1 ms (ms=1,00th of a second) Even if raid made access time twice as fast, you couldn't notice the difference.

That would be one deadly rig that would last a good few years, but without knowing what you are going to use it for it's hard to say if it's overkill. For most users I would say 100% yes it is overkill, but would I like that kind of rig...hell yeah.

What would be the best cooler for this? It could be anything, even liquid nitrogen or liquid helium. But would using LN2 or helium qualify for the Official OC Leaderboards? Remember none of this would be actually used so it could be something crazy like mustard.

You can only use LN2 for a very short benchmarking session, it is not something you could use for regular 24/7 cooling. A custom water loop with plenty of rads would be the ultimate 24/7 cooling solution.

Why would non of this actually be used? Is this some kind of fantasy build thread? You never stated that at the start.

TT Bigwater 760 Pro, TT Water 2.0 Extreme, Corsair H100i, TT Frio Extreme, Noctua NH D14 SE2011, or another cooler? Remember, this is a fantasy build and any price is okay. Also, what is the W for in the TT coolers?

Non, if its a fantasy build you want a total custom loop with loads of fat rads, the GPU's and mb and cpu need to be in the loop, budget $1000 + for custom water lol
