Solved Random assorted BSOD then repeated for a while upon restart

Basically I have been experiencing several different BSOD issues for around a week, yesterday I reinstalled Windows in the hopes that it would at least fix a few of them but evidently it has not.

What usually happens is a blue screen, seemingly random then after that the computer will often go into blue screen loops for a short time requiring restart after restart until finally the blue screens stop and the computer can be used for a while afterward, until the next blue screen anyway.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ah, my apologies I thought it was a one or the other situation.

I have completed chkdsk, it seems fine but then again I do not know what I am looking for. Here is the log.

Ok, so I have ran memtest several times, here are the results.

First run, with both ram sticks 1st RAM stick placed in the first slot and the 2nd RAM stick in the 3rd slot. After a short time the computer turned off, I did not see if there were any errors then the computer began to repeatedly boot and shut down like it often does after a BSOD.

Second run, Same setup again just to be safe. After a short time hundreds of errors were being reported on memtest then the computer shut down and boot looped again.

Third run, This time I removed the 2nd RAM stick (in the 3rd slot). This seemed to be fine but I went away and when I came back the computer had for some reason rebooted and started memtest again, somewhere around the 2nd pass. I ended the run when I came back.

Fourth run, Same setup as third. This time there was no restart, I ran 7 passes with no errors.

Fifth run, I Re-added the 2nd RAM stick but this time into the 2nd slot. lots and lots of errors, so I ended the run.

Sixth run, I removed the 2nd RAM stick and moved the 1st RAM stick into the 2nd slot. Completed 7 passes without a single error or crash.

NOTE: The computer has been in use between the fourth and fifth test, there were no BSOD errors, although that is not totally uncommon because as I said in the OP, often the computer is accessible for hours at a time then it will suddenly BSOD and then the user will have to struggle with it for a while.

Is it worth running any more tests? to me it seems that my 2nd RAM stick defiantly has problems, but then again I am here asking for your help :p

Excellent diagnosis! You have indeed narrowed it down to that specific stick. Nice thorough testing.

I wouldn't suggest only replacing the one stick since RAM is sold in pairs for a reason, they are matched to perform best together.

Either RMA or get a new set would be my suggestion.

Yeah that is my plan, I heard Corsair has a life time warranty so an RMA should be perfectly possible. I wont be able to send the RAM off until early next week so until then I will be running on one stick.

Thanks for all of your help, both of you, it is very much appreciated.

I will mark the thread as solved after I receive the new set of RAM and everything seems fine, as long as I do not experience and further BSOD related issues between now and then. If I do experience any BSOD issues between now and then I will post back here and hopefully you guys can give me more assistance.

Once again, thanks.
