Random BSOD and memory dumps. Not sure of cause

Hello,

Lately I have been getting random semi frequent BSODs which start the physical memory dump and sometimes automatically restart after it finishes and sometimes do not. I really am not sure what the cause could be for them. I have attached the file I was instructed to attach in the sticky. I've tried running sfc /scannow in the cmd prompt while using "Run as Administrator" but I only get "access is denied." I also tried using WhoCrashed to help find answers but it doesn't seem to find any crash reports. Thanks for all your help!

Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

I did just as it said. As seen in the photo. I have have a few more blue screens since then and have no crash dump file to show for it. What do I do now?

Have you merged the registry key? Do that only, and nothing else.

If still there is no crash bump, take a camera snap of teh next BSOD screen and let us see that. Probably the onscreen codes will provide some info there.

Hi

It crashed again and there is still no crash dump. It seems to crash every night if I leave my PC on when I sleep and I have to restart it in the morning. This time that it BSOD'd I got a photo on my phone like you said. I included it in the post. Thanks a lot for your help.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus. All means all, dont be selective at your own.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept then restart.

Then see if anything changes there.

I did as you said and at first I had thought that this had fixed the problem but it would seem I still have been getting occasional BSODs with no dump file to show for them.

I wonder where a recorded dump will go. I will ask for some more eyes here ... lest I am missing something.

Do you have a folder in C:/windows named Minidump? If not, create one. Maybe that is the problem.

Also, please run a full scan with MSE as well as these online scanners.

I did all of the things that you said as well as provided pictures. I also took a screenshot to show that the minidump folder exists and provided a picture of my last BSOD which was earlier today before these scans.

Markrly, you still do not have any dump files. Please try this

Follow these steps:

1. Configure Windows to create minidumps:
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

2. Set the paging file on C: to be the same size as the physically installed RAM:
Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

3. Set the Windows Error Reporting service to MANUAL:
Services - Start or Disable

4. Test to see that dump files are created:
- Open Windows Task Manager
- Navigate to the Processes tab
- Right-click on explorer.exe, and click Create Dump File

- Check that location and confirm that explorer.dmp exists

Did you do any of the suggestions on the restart Blue Screen (disk space, driver, video adapter, BIOS vers, BIOS mem options...)

You're in the middle of a process with essenbe
- don't change anything based on this post - just let members know if you did any of those things.

If you have any of the Gigabyte Utilities installed, uninstall all of them. I would like you to put your hardware in your system specs. That makes it much easier for us. These are the instructions I usually give.
