Got the new power supply (this one: Antec VP 450W PSU - 120mm Fan 4x SATA 1x PCI-E | Ebuyer.com)

I stripped the build down and rebuilt, using compressed air to make sure all contact points were clean and what not.

I tried to reinstall windows - 5 mins in it BSOD'd again.

I could punch a baby at this point.

How likely is it that the motherboard or processor are to blame?

The board could be bad, I've had poor experience with Gigabyte, but let's try something first.

I'd like you to do a Secure Erase of the SSD which will require you to do a new clean install. This will give some info on how to do it.
How to securely erase an SSD drive | How To - CNET
You will need to download PartedMagic and I recommend burning the iso image to a CD, it works better. On the left side of the page is the Download link, it's a big one. Hopefully you can do this from another working PC.

When you reinstall Windows have only the SSD connected to your board.

I did the above, I kind of gave up with it I got annoyed..

But I found the solution, a faulty surge protector....

It kept dropping power to the PC -.-

It now runs fine straight from the wall...

What a ball ache.

Well that's something I would never have thought of, good job on finding it. :)
but do get a new surge protector, or better, an Uninterpruptable Power Supply with built-in surge protection.
