I've had several BSOD recently, they tend to occur when my computer is idling or about to go into sleep/hibernate mode. I'm not sure if this is just a one off thing or if I should be concerned so posting on here for any assistance diagnosing/troubleshooting the cause. I've ran chkdsk via command, sfc/scannow and memory diagnostic test which all came back negative for problems. Thanks for taking a look!

Hey Snick thanks for the quick response, this program is great! I ran it and this is what came up for the last few BSOD:

On Thu 10/22/2020 1:06:26 AM your computer crashed or a problem was reported
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\102220-35880-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x70180)
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA8006B30A10, 0xFFFFF80000B9A3D8, 0xFFFFFA800D94C8B0)
Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System

description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. A device object has been blocking an IRP for too long a time.
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

Any thoughts?

Not a BSOD expert. I had a BSOD a couple times, WhoCrashed indicated it was Malwarebytes.
@MrPepka (see if he responds) or Axe0 are a few that I can think of. Axe0 said PM works the @ and username doesn't. You can try Private Message, (PM and see if you get a responds).

Is your attached zip from Sevenforums DM Log Collector from the BSOD Posting Instructions?

ntoskrnl.exe DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE is pretty common.
You can also try BlueScreenView, by Nir Sofer, Nirsoft, you drag and drop the dumps, right click the entry in the top pane & have 3 different choices that opens your browser.

Good place to start.
Have you added any new programs or hardware?
Are all you drivers up to date?
Computer Management > Device Manager > click on the > on each entry and check for :warn: If you double click the entry, if that device is working properly you should see
"This device is working properly."
&
On the tab Driver, update driver.

Thanks for pointing this out axe0 that's weird it only pulled from 2015/2016. I've reattached the zip file, this should show recent ones.

The drivers from your network adapter appears to be dated, it was trying to make an unsupported request whilst processing an IRP.

I am not sure which network adapter it is, because the logs are incomplete. Normally this driver belongs to a Ralink USB adapter, but I'm not 100% sure.

If you have a USB network adapter, check its vendor for driver updates. Otherwise check HP for network driver updates.

Interesting! I don't have any USB adapter, are you referring to my WiFi adapter? That is through Ralink.

Also axe0 I'm wondering if I get a USB WiFi adapter, disable the current WiFi network adapter that seems to be having the issue, could that resolve this? I've been thinking about doing that for quite some time now since I'm having some other issues as well.

I would first try to update the WiFi network drivers from HP.

When you say update from HP, how do I do that? I see a tool called HP Support Assistant. Can I check for and install updated drivers through that?

I normally do not recommend using a program for that. While it does appear quite tempting to automate this and make things easier, this is something you want to do manually. If there's a problem in a program like that, it affects the stability of your pc.

The highly recommended method is
- Go to the support page for your laptop
- Download the latest drivers from the support page
- Run the installer
- Reboot after the install process is finished.

I normally provide a link you can use to go to the support page, but I cannot find any. If you also fail to find the right page, then I would suggest using HP Support Assistant to (re)install the network drivers.

Ok so I was able to go to HP and I found my model of my desktop PC and found the main support page, I then went to driver-network section and then I found Ralink Wireless Network Controller Driver Update. Screenshot attached, does this look like the right name and driver?

That's the only driver that comes up under network drivers on the support page, it looks to be more up to date than what I'm currently on. Should I go ahead and use that to install?
