Random BSoDs Happening at Any Given Time

Hello all SF users!

Long time reader/browser, first time poster! So I've been having BSoD issues for quite some time now. I had always chalked it up to motherboard issues. Well, now that I have some free time on my hands, I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. Before we get our hands dirty, let me give you some basics!

1) I'm currently using a refurbished mobo (horrible idea, I know! But it was a gift from a friend who owns a refurbishing company).

2) I have a shiesty nVidia GeForce GT 610 graphics card. I've been reading around and apparently, like many other nVidia gfx cards, this one is known for having some serious driver issues with Windows 7 (weird???).

3) I am receiving BSoD's of all sorts and shapes. I'd give you a list of all the reasons it states, but that list would be too long. BAD_POOL_HEADER, MEMORORY_MANGEMENT, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, and the infamous IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL are the most common ones (by far).

4) The BSoD's happen during random events on my computer; when it's sitting idle, while gaming, while browsing the web, on boot up, on shut down, etc. Basically, it can BSoD at any given time.

5) I checked Event Viewer + Reliability, and couldn't find anything about crashes (except stating that my PC recovered from a crash), and a few corrupt Windows services (such as PNPR or w/e). I fixed those corrupt Windows system files to no avail. I then re-installed Windows, thinking, "What the hell?". This also got me nowhere (except more BSoDs).

6) Reading on here some more, I went ahead and ran Driver Verifier. This really brought out the BSoD's, though it changed. Instead of giving me the generic messages I stated above, it started telling me to check my hardware, uninstall Anti-Virus, turn off caching/shadowing for memory in BIOS, etc. I have taken out all hardware that isn't necessary to run my PC (except graphics, as my on-board VGA doesn't work).


The .zip file I am about to post, containing dump files, is AFTER crashing with Driver Verifier running. I have currently disabled it, and am running in Safe Mode. I have not crashed once yet while in Safe Mode (another reason I'm thinking it may not be my mobo, as much as it is my gfx driver).

With that being said, LETS GET OUR HANDS DIRTY!! And also, I really, REALLY appreciate your help and what you all do here. It's an invaluable service that you all provide!

Hello, I see all the things you did to try and stop the BSODs which is really cool, most people coming here i feel like don't even know where the power button is. Anyways, follow these steps to be safe. So I can rule everything out I can.

avast! Revert	ROOT\LEGACY_ASWRVRT\0000	This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

It looks like that your AV is deciding to act up. As much as I love Avast and use it myself, let's uninstall it, and replace it with Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Center for testing purposes.

Not only is this driver far out of date, it is also a cause of BSODs. Uninstall any Asus utility programs that you have.

I have seen a few of these in the crash files, run a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html for a minimum of 8 passes, or if you get even 1 error, that will show a problem with the RAM.

Lets make sure you have the latest version of DirectX: DirectX 11 - Microsoft Windows

This is an Avast! driver, so as stated above switch the AVs.

Did a mem test with 8 passes overnight, no errors. My RAM is brand new. I am performing everything else on the list as I type this. Man, DirectX is a sunnuvagun to update/download lol. No simple "Download" button anywhere >.<

Okay, so I've done everything but update my BIOS. I can't find the serial number or model number listed ANYWHERE on the mother board :O I can't believe it. I'm installing Driver Genius to auto identify it, since the Asus website's auto tool didn't seem to want to work. No BSoD's as of yet, though, since updating everything this morning. I haven't tried gaming on it yet, though. That will come in a little.

Once you get the most recent BIOS version installed, try gaming. If a BSOD happens then, post up the files, if not, then do what you would normally do before all the BSODs been happening. If nothing happens in a few days, then problem solved

I had the same problem. It was probably either your ASUS driver and/or your Realtek Card Reader. I would do an sfc scan just to be sure

Sooo it looks like I started getting BSoD's again. However, this time it's mostly been the same one, "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT", when running my DivX Converter (burning DVDs for a friend). Then, one time I got the IRQ_ BSoD immediately after Windows loaded after a reboot.

Below is the new dump file. My RAM is brand new and there were no issues with the mem test after 8 passes.

Also, something to note on your previous instructions! 1) I cannot find what type of Asus motherboard I have. It doesn't have the model number ANYWHERE on the board (I even took the CPU+heatsink off to see if it was hiding), which is new to me. Additionally, I couldn't find any Asus utilities like you mentioned; not even a "driver" for Asus. So I couldn't uninstall the Asus utility you mentioned, and I couldn't update my BIOS. Is there some sort of system within Windows that identifies hardware? I even used 3 driver softwares to see if they could identify it, and they couldn't. Again, the Asus website's auto detect wouldn't work for me.

Attach the file.

Now also follow this tutorial to step 5, so I am able to get he exact parts of your computer,

Now for the ASUS drivers, it seems that even though the program isn't installed, the driver was left behind. Follow this tutorial to see if you can get rid of it:

Use Reveno Uninstaller to remove any of those hard programs, go through the list to see if you have ASUS utilities installed and remove them. Also remove them from the registry aswell:

Psh, I'm on your schedule, sir!

So...

1) I installed the driver sweeper and REVO, and neither of them found anything related to Asus on my computer.

2) The Bios that you showed above is from 2011, the newest Bios they're showing is from December 2010, a month or so before my version was released. Motherboards - M4A78LT-M - ASUS

3) I have attached the MSInfo32 file as suggested.

I really don't know what's going on with the first two :\

Welp, I've had suspicions that it was BSoD'ing while I was gone at work, but had no way to prove it. This morning I received an IRQ_ BSoD right after installing Office onto my computer

Below is the attached dump file. I also had a new motherboard delivered today... I'm getting close to replacing everything and re-installing Windows lmao. Again, I really appreciate your help with this!

Ok, well see, this is where it got kind of confusing.

On the website, it said that my driver was newer than anything they had hosted How is that? I have no idea. But They didn't have anything from 2011, as I apparently do. Seeing as how there's an Asus driver I apparently can't find, and having conflicting information on the bios, I'm thinking I'm just going to use the new mobo I bought and re-install Windows. We'll see how that goes.
