Random BSOD's in brand new PC.

Hello,

My brand new PC with all the latest gear keeps randomly getting BSOD's. The Blue Screen never appears after launching a particular program, or anything of that sort. Adding to that, there is never a similar error. It's always another system file which is causing everything to crash.

I did not wright all the error codes down, but I remembered one case in which 'fileinfo.sys' caused the fatal error. Usually, after one BSOD, there will be more when I'm starting the PC up again. I know it's not a hardware problem, since I ran the system perfectly for 3 days, GTA IV & Modern Warfare 2, then everything began, then it stopped again for three days.

This leads me to believe that it's random.

No new installed programs. I've checked both hard-discs with software from the manufacturer. I've done the 'Windows Memory test', no problem there.

What could possibly be causing this? Any clue's?

I'm sorry for not reading the instructions. I was unaware of them at the time.
I looked in the Minidump folder, but I found it to be completely empty. I made sure all hidden files would be shown.

I forgott to mention, ever couple of hours my Theme changes to Aero Basic for no reason. After a couple of seconds it changes back again. Could this have something to do with faulty drivers maybe?

how new is the machine"?

i brought a new machine before my current one and it bsod in the 1st 2 weekx while the machine wasn't in use. i took it back and demanded a replacement nicely . I was luck and they then knock heap of my machine now.

Hello,

That is not really an option, since I built the PC myself. I know that some of you may think, we'll it's your own fault that it isn't working. The PC preformed 100% in the first 3 day's. Since that is the case, I don't think it is hardware related.

That is the main reason why I opened this thread. What could be wrong? I'm thinking some driver compatibility issues, or something like that.

I hope there is some info in the Dump file that could be useful.

Dump reports Bugcheck 0x4e pointing at SYMDS.sys
I believe this file is related to a norton program, AV/firewall ?
Do you have this installed
If so try updating/removing it

By the way if your OCing dont until this is sorted
You could also run RAM test (memtest 86) & HDD test (chkdsk) to check for errors

If you got anymore dumps ppost them as well

Hi bob and welcome

Memory corruption

I would dl memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes
system file check to verify and repair system files
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

I did the SFC again, and it didn't encounter any problems. I haven't had any problems since the last scan. System is running stable for about 3 to 4 hours.
