HP G62 Notebook

Sorry for the title, there was no error code. I'll explain as best i can as i've never seen any computer do this before.

On the laptop playing football manager 2012, computer crashes. I reboot and it goes to some system recovery program (most possibly HP's own). So i reboot from scheduled restore point(2 weeks before hand) and windows 7 loads up.

My user account is gone, all the files have disappeared. I go on to my girlfriends user account and nothing is gone, the pictures she uploaded from the previous day are still on there.

Just can't explain why it happened, i don't even know why the laptop crashed. On my gf's user account i tried to access the files but they are obviously not in the same location. I havent tried a recovery program as of yet as im not sure which one to use. I would rather know what the problem is and if it can be fixed without those means but if not it doesn't matter.

Would really appreciate the help.
