Random Desktop Lockups

Hey there,

I just built a new computer and I have had 2 random lock ups (not a bsod, but I can't move the mouse or toggle num/caps lock).

I have read into examining the dump files but can't seem to get it to work.

If anyone would please help me examine this file to determine the cause of lock ups, I would really appreciate it!

Just in case here are my System Specs:

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Intel i7 875 @ 2.93ghz
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 P55
GSkill Ripjaw Series 8GB (2x4) DDR3 1333
XFX Radeon HD 5870

Also I am not sure if this is the appropriate time or place to ask; I am having problems with Windows or the motherboard (I'm not sure which is having trouble) recognizing the SATA Ports that my external HDs are plugged into.

BTW if not a BSOD, you shouldnt have Dump files.

Last night the computer locked up while I was sleeping. When I woke up I tried moving the mouse to bring the monitor back on. Nothing happened. I tried num/caps lock to see if it was frozen and it was.

It happened again today. This time it locked up. I couldn't move the mouse or keyboard. Scroll/caps lock would not work. However, when I pressed the power off button on the case it started to shut down normally. It seemed to get stuck on the "Shutting down..." screen. The windows 7 "Hour Glass" animation to the left of "Shutting down..." was still twirling though. I had to force shut it down by holding power for a few seconds.

There is a DMP file in my minidmp folder. This system isn't more than 2 days old. Let me know what it says in there. Thanks!

This crash was probably caused by usbehci.sys. USB Usbehci.sys Manufacturer VIA Technologies is a USB driver.

I would do the following.

If you installed a new dvd, or other USB drive re-install the driver.

In any case I would run a system file check to verify and repair the OS files.
