random fps drop

while playing games and recording with fraps my fps drops dramatically, lets say im playing minecraft on high settings. the game is laggy, but if i drop the graphics it gets even more laggy?! i have intel 3570k 3.4 3.8 ghz turbo quad core with 16gs of 1600mhz ram and an ssd and geforce 650 1g of ddr5 ram and yet i cant get a decent frame rate?

update your drivers for your gpu. does the frame drop happen when not recording?

try using msi afterburner to record.

Could try running fraps on a 2nd drive since fraps may possibly be slowing down the your primary drive and also fraps uses a lot of cpu as well. Another thing you could try is switching to another recorder like the one noobergoober suggested.

i do record on a different drive, its more like the game has hiccups. lagging for a bit and then its fine for a second and it hiccups again :/
and how can i use that to record?

You can check out this video I found , explains how to set up msi afterburner for recording. As for the game hiccuping when recording i'm going to assume it's a issue with fraps. Could try recording in half quality maybe if you still want to use fraps and see what happens.

download it and try Afterburner. it has a recording tab in settings. i use it all the time! has some really good options!
