My mouse cursor has started freezing on screen for a few seconds at a time. Then Windows will make the "ding dong" disconnection sound, and the mouse will start working again, though sometimes it takes a few ding dong sounds.
You would think maybe it's a faulty wire, but the lights in the mouse stay on the whole time. And I tried cleaning the lens with rubbing alcohol, but to no difference.
Also it seems to happen more often when the comp is doing something intensive.
