Solved Re-image ASUS desktop PC

I'm attempting to reimage my 18-month-old ASUS desktop pc. I have repair disk and system image disks from initial setup. I get to a point where the pc is looking for the source, but there is no option to look at the D: drive; pc wants to look to the network for the image. I can't figure out how to get the pc to look at the D: drive to grab the image. What am I doing wrong? In replies, please do not use abbreviations as I will likely not understand. I really need help with this. In advance, thanks.

Just to be certain since you say this is an OEM Asus desktop, do you mean doing a System Image Recovery from a created system image, or to do a factory restore/recovery from a set of OEM recovery discs?

I do not have OEM recovery discs. I created my own discs when I first purchased the PC and before I started using it. So I THINK the image is the factory image. Is this what you mean?

Take a look at the link below to see if that is what you did when you created your own discs. If so, then you created a system image backup.

Yes, after looking at the info, I'm certain that I have a system image backup. Can you help in explaining how to restore that image? Thanks...

The tutorial below can help show you how to do a system image recovery. You should be able to use step 6 in the STEP TWO section of the tutorial to be able to select the location you have the system image saved to.

When I get to step 6 in the STEP TWO section on my PC, there are no data in the table, and I cannot enter any. I would think that the PC would recognize that there is a DVD in D:. It appears that the PC is not.

Regarding "WindowsImageBackup folder from where and how it was originally saved at", when I created the Windows image backup, all I did was specify that I wanted the image saved to DVD discs. I really appreciate this help. I really need to do this.

Are you booting with the last Disk # of the image set?

While in Windows 7, see if you are able to run the DVD to start the system image recovery process.

BTW... there is a "WindowsImageBackupFolder" on the DVD.

Could you post a screenshot showing what you see at this point?

Are you able to select (dot) the Select a system image option?

I don't remember where I would have been in order to Snip the screen as it has been 18 months since I purchased and set up this pc. Yes, I can select (dot) the Select a system image option.

How are you getting into the WinRE to load the system image, booting to DVD or F8?

The Windows Backup gives a message while doing a DVD image recovery to put the last DVD in the drive.

What is "WinRE"? Sorry, I'm not good with computer abbreviations.

I've tried two approaches: (1) via Control Panel; and (2) I respond when prompted to "hit any key" during boot up. Both approaches eventually take me to "Select a system image". I select this option, but it appears that the PC is not looking at the DVD drive.

Are you saying that I should put the last system image backup DVD in the DVD drive first?

I am not saying it, Windows is ! But yes, the last DVD should be used first. The reason probably is because all the info on the image, like number of DVDs, is written to the last one. It may ask for the first one after it reads the last one.
