Ok guys I work for a lawfirm and I wouldn't dare call myself an IT guy...I am the Video Guy. However being the guy who works on a computer all day, the higher ups made me the unofficial IT guy and computer fixer as well. God save me...I work on a Mac LOL.

I know this is Bad practice and all to some, but I have 2 new machines running Windows 7 the rest in this office are running Xp Pro. We got the two machines in March and everything was running smooth until Tuesday.

Most of our docs, letterheads, forums, etc are available to everyone's computer via one of the new Windows 7 Machines.

This was going fine like I said till Tuesday, the folder has set itself to Read Only..and changed back no matter what I do. I have gone all the way to the "Users" folder to even make sure it wasn't a Parent Folder causing the problems.

I can clear the filled read only, and other computers can access it again shortly but it just reverts back within twenty minuets.

I have tried to do my own homework on the issue I swear, but anything previously suggested has yet to work.

I will note I did NOT try the Folder Ownership Script because I wasn't quite sure how to execute it, and I am dealing with enough problems as it stands lol.

Any help might make this Thursday go a little smoother LOL! Thanks in advance!

Thanks I ran the Attrib command for every folder..

It has stayed pretty stable this morning since I made a new User account and set it up again. I just hope it stays...going on hour 3 now and no problems yet.

You could also give yourself permissions provided you are the admin. Here's somethig I wrote in my gaming tips but it applies to any situation...

14Permissions – For various reasons Windows security features may limit permissions to folders or drives. If you’re having issues starting or saving games, check to make sure your user name is included in the "Security" tab and has full read/write permission for the game’s folder(s). Requires Admin rights! See Tutorial on Sharing and Permissions – If you don’t want/need to share the folder just do steps 1-7

Just something to think about.

Good luck
