As Far i as i know Windows 7 is great...
better than most betas,
but then again it has to be since it was already had a base point which was the vista kernel...

just one thing though,
while i know this is a pre beta
so i dont have many expectations....
but i just want to clarify (or actually want to know)
is there any drivers that will make it possible to use the microphone
as far as i know everything else is working but that....
the built in audio driver just pumpes static and nothing else...
the realtek ones dont even record anything....
so i ask you
are there any drivers that enable the microphone???
thanks in advanmce

If you need to know I have a laptop so I cant change the sound card, to clarify
and thanks to anyone who can help me...

sorry for making a new thread but i somehow i got it working
since after i unnistalled the realtek hd drivers
i thought those were the MS ones....
i for got to take the out of the device manager DOH!
so i got it work with the standard MS drivers..

hello Abhimanyu

realtek has have a habit of not working on betas...lol
with it i cant use my microphones which i need...(i use it to record lectures among other things...)
only the standard MS drivers allow for the microphone so im happy until they bring out beta (meaning on MS updates....well it actually shows up but its the same version as the vista.....)

Hmm.. Mine was Realtek also, and Since it had 2 mics (i guess) there was always this noise, that u hear when u keep the speaker and the mic too close.
I used the Hp Vista Drivers and it worked.
But since the default drivers are working for you, even i wouldn't recommend using these. :)

maybe because i got the newer AMD chipset...

I found this on a "hem hem" Mac site. Referred to a new install of Windows 7 Version 700 though. Who knows, might help.

"
Win7 detected "High Definition Audio Device" and everything looked like it should have worked, but no sound came out of the speakers.
After much mucking around, here's what I did:
Go into the drivers folder. There should be a directory called Drivers, and under that is a file called RealTekSetup.exe. If you try run this normally, it will fail.
What I did next was:
Right click it, and select Troubleshoot Compatibility
Click Next and wait for it to finish 'Detecting Issues'
Select The program Worked in earlier versions of windows...
Select Windows Vista
Click Next a few times, let the Realtek installer run, reboot, and Presto!"

See, Presto!. I don't know if the problem was fixed, but it did go Presto! That's gotta be good.

In the realtek audio manager, select speaker fill. You should have sound now

THIS IS NOT 5.1 SURROUND! All it does is duplicate the stereo channels in the other speakers.
