Ok, I installed 3 different versions from the Asus website and it's still not working, I also tried installing the latest version from Realtek website, didn't work.
This driver problem is really strange since I managed (via a regestry hack) to get thinks to work correctly when using the windows drivers, it really shouldn't be that hard to get things to work with the Realtek drivers.

Okay, hopefully someone else can chime in, I'm not sure of anything else to try. I would go to the Asus site and check their forums and support as they might have a fix.

OK, could you just help me test something? tick the "disable front jack detection", then open the registry and navigate to the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings\

there sould be a subkey called Drv_something can you post a pic of all the keys that are contained in that key? I just want to see if I can do something with the registry
thanks

How did you perform the uninstall? I recommend you go to device manager.. go to sound controllers, right click and uninstall all the audio...reboot then after system loads microsoft drivers after recognizing it install the latest from your motherboards site.
