I've got a headset with a mic and In the Audio Manager i've got the playback volume muted. When i un-mute it there is a faint buzzing noise. thats not a big problem but when i want to talk to friends on skype. I'm really quiet and they can hear the buzzing noise. When I try to use the Microphone Boost, the buzzing gets louder. Its a Deep Buzzing noise. I've done many things to try and fix this, messing around with it, going online to find a fix.

I know its not my headset or my mic causeing it; did a test with another headset.

If this problem has been solved already, please link - Thanks

Do you get the Buzz with speakers (only) too? If you hear it with the speakers, physically disconnect the speakers from the PC and then see if you hear it in the headphone - with the Headphone only connected, not the mic.

Do you have any other AC powered device (other than a monitor) connected to the PC?

i don't even use/have speakers. i only have my headset with a mic. I unpluged the mic jack and only have the headset jack in and can't hear any buzzing. only when i have my mic active and the playback volume on, there's buzzing.

AC powered device? the only other thing i have is my Hawking Wireless Adapter for connecting to the internet.

I assume you are connecting the mic (and headset) to the front panel jacks. Try plugging into the rear jacks (Green for headset and Pink for mic) and see if you have the same problem.

My PC is a Gigabyte Z77 motherboard, with an i7 3770 CPU.

See my system specs in the "My System Specs". That is what we need for yours.

Also, are you using the correct sound driver? The one from Gigabyte for your motherboard is generally the preferred driver.

This is what I have in mine. The AMD is for HDMI audio, the RealTek is the PC's sound device The other two are some extras that I have for my Recording Studio.

mine looks the same as yours without the two extras.

i'm pretty sure that the right driver is installed, my dad helped me build and install all that i needed.

Disconnect the front panel headphone/mic connection from the motherboard (with the PC powered off) and then power on and see if you still get the buzzing. This will help to determine if the problem is in the motherboard or because of the front panel connection.

i was trying to see if i could disconnect the front panel, but i didn't because my dad wasn't around and i don't know what cable is what. instead i want to clean up the dust in my fans. after doing that i started up my PC, for a chance i checked if there was any buzzing. i couldn't hear anything. the next thing i tryed was calling my brother on skype. sure enough he couldn't hear it, even if i turn up my mic booster. before i mark this as solved, i'm going to wait a few days just to make sure what ever i did made it stop buzzing.

Had to be a cable and possibly the audio cable. Usually, the front panel audio connector is in the lower left of the motherboard.

the solution is simple but it kinda turns the buzzing noise into hiss noise which is better than buzzing. you gotta go to default format tab on realtek setting page and change the sample rate of both playback and mic to 96k
