Realtek HD Audio Very Very Low Volume - Mb: ASRock Z77Extreme3

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my audio, the problem is that my volume is extremely low even with maxed out settings in realtek audio manager and speakers turned all the way up. I have tried installing and reinstalling drivers from MB drivers and directly from Realtek to no avail.

I've searched on endlessly on a few forums and could not find a fix for my problem. Is there anything else I could try? I've tried changing to 5.1/different bitrates/fresh Win7 install/different version drivers. Im exhausted

Might have to resort to change my MB maybe?

First thing is the sound driver. You should be using the ASRock supplied RealTek sound driver. What do you show for sound devices in the Device Manager? You should have HDMI Audio (Video card) and the RealTek sound driver. If you have something else such as the generic Windows installed HD Audio Codec that is one of your problems.

I assume you are using "powered" speakers (ones with their own power amplifier). If not, that is most likely the problem as powered speakers are required. Plug a headset into the GREEN speaker jack on the rear and see if you get adequate sound, if the headset works OK then the problem is in your speaker system and not the PC.

If the headphone sound is also low, its back to the PC.

I have 3 installed in device manager. Should I uninstall the intel display audio and hd audio device?

Sound output is the same with headphones and speakers.

Uninstall the High Definition Audio Device.

Restart the PC and then check the Sound Panel/Playback Section to make sure your "Speakers" are set as the default audio playback device.

I uninstalled the High Definition Audio Device but it reinstalled right back when I got into Windows and yes the Speakers are set as the default audio playback device.

Does the PNY GTX 660 have an HDMI port? If it does, there should be a driver for that and it should be listed in the Device Manager. If no driver (or incorrect) driver was installed that may be why the HD Audio Codec is installing.

The Intel Display Audio is for the built in video/HDMI in the i5 CPU chip. If you are not using the Video in the i5, that should have been disabled in the BIOS. I have a second PC with an i5 and since I'm using a separate video card (GTS450) the i5 has been automatically disabled by the BIOS and does not show up in the Device Manager.

I know this is not directly addressing your low volume problem. But, got to get all the other things straightened out first. Then they do not become a potential issue.

Yes the PNY GTX 660 does have an HDMI port. So, I took out the Graphics card to get rid of the HD audio device. (I'm not going to be using the gtx 660) So now I only have 2 devices under sound. Intel display audio and realtek.

Also a note;

The output sounds like its only coming from the right speaker. My left speaker and subwoofer are not getting any signals. I'm using the green line out jack. This just recently happened I haven't installed any drivers lately, only windows security updates.

Are you fully inserting the plug? If it were only partially inserted you would only get one channel.

My RealTek HD Audio Manager has a Left/Right control. If yours has this make sure its centered.

My RealTek HD Audio Manager has a Left/Right control. If yours has this make sure its centered.

Yes its fully inserted and centered. I'm pretty sure its not the speakers because when I plug it into my ipod its fine.

Yes I checked disabled all sound effects.

With what has been done, I would suspect the motherboard. If its still in warranty contact ASRock. I had initial problems with a new ASRock Z77 Professional (Fatal1ty) motherboard (memory slots) and after back and forth with their support they finally agreed to replace it.
