So I had this issue where my ethernet connection on my Lenovo B570 laptop keeps disconnecting about every couple of minutes and the link lights would turn off then it would reconnect. So I did the following:

visit Realtek and install the latest driver. (Might not be necessary but do it anyways)
open Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage adapter settings, right click Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Local Area Connection) and select properties. Click on configure, switch to advanced tab and change the following properties:

Auto Disable Gigabit > Relink Battery or AC
Green Ethernet > Disable
Energy Efficient Ethernet > Disable

My ethernet connection has been stable so far.

Hope this helps anyone. :)

Thank You Very Much! Your manual really helped me!
I was dancing with a tambourine for 3 nights, before i found Your message.
I Must add that 1 step was made by myself: link speed/duplex settings were changed from Auto to 10 Mb, Full Duplex. And only after that link lights began to work....

Quick update: I switched Auto disable gigabit to disable and it works fine so now I have gigabit speed.

Abeyousef, you are the greatest! I just had the AT&T router and replaced and my Toshiba Laptop (using a newer Realtek PCle FE Family Controller) started dumping the Ethernet connection every 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. I spent hours looking for a cure. After I found your post, I changed the Advanced Energy Efficiency setting to "disabled" and under the Power Mgt. tab unchecked "Allow computer to turn off..." and it's working fine again. I couldn't find the "Auto disable gigabit.." in any of the menus.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advise!
Just to add that in my case updating the drivers was essential.

I tried Abyousef's settings of
Auto Disable Gigabit > Relink Battery or AC
Green Ethernet > Disable
Energy Efficient Ethernet > Disable

I gained stable network connection but the "Auto Disable Gigabit > Relink Battery or AC" setting restricted my network speed to 100Mbps.

My final fix was to update to the latest Windows 10 drivers from the Realtek site. Realtek. This didn't help much until I installed a Cat 6 cable, this provides stable internet connection and consistent Gigabit network speeds.

It's funny, the Cat 6 cable I replaced from my computer to the router is less than a metre. I have a WD MyCloud mirror drive on a Cat 5 cable that is about 20 metres in length and it has no problems with Gigabit network speeds.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Abyousef!

I've been struggling with this issue for several months where my computer would not reconnect to internet after period of non-use. I have it set to turn off monitor but never sleep since I access it from other devices.

What appeared to ultimately resolve the issue was changing the Auto Disable Gigabit to Disabled.

Thank you, Abyouself!

Just thought I would put a note on here as well as this is the first result that comes up in Google for the search
"realtek energy efficient ethernet".

My config:
Windows 10
HP110-405a - uses Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Connected via Ethernet.

I was getting ethernet connect/reconnect problems - network icon on the taskbar changing between connection OK and connection failed and failed connection to Internet.

I found this fix out myself months ago actually but had to make the change again after the Windows feature update 1809.

Looking in the Events for the driver showed evidence of a reinstall which may have reset this setting? I guess a large windows update required a driver reinstall for some reason?

Anyway, as this post describes, just changing energy efficient ethernet to disable fixed the problem. Ethernet connection is now stable.

I didn't have to change any other settings.

Thanks Abyouself :D
