Hi everyone,

I have a trouble with my friend PC. I installed him Windows 7, but I can't put Realtek High Definition driver. Tried all kind of drivers from the official site, but no result. On the Device manager there are jus High Definision driver, but not Realtek. In Program files there is a Realtek installed program, but nothing works. There is no Realtek Sound Manager too.
Please, give me advice how to resolve the problem.

We can only talk in generalties without knowing what the PC is and hardware.

The HD Audio Codec is the generic Windows installed basic functi9on sound driver. The sound should work (be able to hear) with this.

Where did the RealTek come from in the Programs Files? Is this an upgrade from Vista? (if it was XP you would need to do a complete new install). If this was from Vista the PC vendor's Vista sound drivers will work.

If the RealTek is from what you attempted to install, the PC vendor's drivers are the preferred. Non vendor drivers (even drivers from the RealTek site) may not work or work correctly.

But, more info is needed to even make an "educated' guess and try to help you.

Make and model of the motherboard would help, as it may not even use Realtek for the onboard audio.
