Hi,

I need some help cos I'm completely stumped with a problem that's developed on my laptop. (3 year-old Dell inspiron running Windows 7). I was trying to capture video from my minidv cam using Windows Movie Maker but the WMM wouldnt do it. I then re-installed Windows Live Essentials (which includes WMM) but that wasnt working either. I then noticed that the little speaker icon had the red cross through it. When I investigated further it turned out that my laptop was no longer recognising the Realtek sound-card.
I also installed Sony Vegas AVS but windows won't let me uninstall it.

Here's what I tried to do to remedy (to no avail) the situation so far:-
Tried restoring to earlier version but I wasn't running windows backup :( - NO JOY
Tried cleaning registry with AVG and CCleaner. - NO JOY

Tried installing new version of Realtek driver version 2.75 from their site but on reboot windows is not recognising the sound-card.
Downloaded earlier Realtek 2.64 driver from their site and that gives an error before the install completes.

In device mgr I see the yellow exclamation mark on the Realtek High Defn Audio icon and when clicked on says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I stumped. Please help. Thanks
