Solved Rear Fan Direction Help!

I wanna know that i have a PC right now it has only 1 80mm Fan installed on the side panel of the case right over the position of CPU HSF which is sucking out the air and throwing it outwards (Exhaust). The case has a place for 120mm Fan on the rear. I have a couple of spare 120mm's and now i wanna know that if i fit it for the Intake direction (Suck air from outside to inside of the case) will it be ok? coz these 120mm's have 3 Pin connectors and they perfectly reach the pins located on the Motherboard near it (for rear fan) but the problem is i can only adjust the fan in 1 direction which is of course Intake :sarc: coz the 3 Pin cable on fans is hard as hell.

Front fan air flow in, side and back air flow out, but also side fan in depending ... as you could download SpeedFan - freeware- to tune your fans and check your temps (if supported) a good balance is best.

I know about the SpeedFan but there's no front fan in the case it's a chinese case and it's my cousins pc and i'm gonna install a low-end GPU + this 120mm before writing zero's to the drive and install everything coz it's all messed up so i wanna make it ready for the one go

My rear fans and top fans all blow air out of the case. I believe in bringing in cool air from the front at the bottom and exhausting out heat from the back near the top.

There's no place and no fan in the front just on side panel and rear.

The reason for front fan/fans is to bring in air over the Hard Drive/Drives and to cool the Motherboard etc. Most front fans are at the base of the case and most back fans are at the top (making a pull through). Sorry but I would consider a new case if you intend upgrading.

That is correct. Also, fans on the side panel (if fitted) should be drawing air into the case. Basically, what you want your case fans to do is to assist in the natural flow of air through the case and since warm air rises (and the air inside the case is warmed by the hardware) you need to arrange your fans so that cool air is drawn in at the bottom front and exhausted at the top rear.

i only need to know about the directions for the Rear and Side or i think i'll just set the side panel direction for the In and the rear for the Out and extend the wires in tomorrow morning that would do the job.

There are markings (arrows) on the fans to indicate the direction of rotation and the air flow direction.

i know about the marking on the fan just need to know the ventilation direction of just 2 fans. I know about the directions when there is a place on front, bottom base, Tops, side panels etc. but i'm lookinh for the best possible directions on just 2 fans 80mm and 120mm that's it. No front, top etc.

Thank you Ciara and Dwarf now all i have to cut the cables of 120mm and make them longer just 2 - 3 inches.. and side In and back Out and thanks to others for the help too

You might be better using an appropriate extension cable rather than cutting the existing cable.

^ Agree fan cables are not expensive boogieboy also splicing/extending must be insulated correctly ... its a lot easier to just buy them

Heat of course rises so to not interfere with convection I would do as suggested and intake air from the side fan and exhaust out the high mounted rear fan. I would also suggest running these fans wide open to get as much flow into this case. You could also knock out a opening in the front of the case maybe where an additional optical drive would go and just drill out the plastic in a open mesh pattern and get more air coming from the front. This case sounds like a less than ideal case for sure. You can also try using a Antec spot fan and that will help get air to the HDD and over the mobo and CPU.

Hey i do the Soldering stuff so it's nothing to worry about... i can repair the printing on the GPU/Mobo boards, replace capicitors/conductors and everything and fan is just a little work besides thank for the help everyone and it's just a everyday PC that is used for documentations and he does'nt do any gaming/OC'ing stuff so there's not much issue of heating up. It's been running from last 4 years like that.
